At True Grit Farm & Flower, everything we do is rooted in meaning—from the way we farm to the way we tell our story. Our new logo features a hand-drawn Eryngium, aka Sea Holly—a bold, spiky beauty not just chosen for aesthetics, but for the deep symbolism it carries through generations, elements, and place.

A Flower with Grit

Eryngium is a plant that doesn't flinch in the face of wind or drought. It thrives in the margins, between salt and soil, sea and sand. It’s a triple threat in the most ancestral sense: used historically for medicine, revered in spiritual traditions, and beloved as a striking ornamental. Its sharp leaves and steel-blue blossoms demonstrate resilience. A protective strength wrapped in delicate structure. Just like us. Just like our people.

Pearl and the Power of Becoming

The connection to the sea runs deep for our founder Nitika and her family. With roots along the coast and hearts attuned to the tides, water is a second home. It’s no accident that True Grit Life, the lifestyle branch of our work, bears a seashell as its emblem. In her lineage, the pearl is a recurring support: not only for its beauty but for what it represents—grit transformed. A pearl is made when irritation meets intention. That story lives in every seed we plant.

Grounded on the Bay

Our farm is nestled along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, a place where land and water are in constant conversation. The sounds and smells in the air is a daily reminder of our watery origins and our responsibility to show up in a way that honors land, sea and those who call them home. Choosing Sea Holly as our logo is an archetype. It’s a botanical beacon of tenacity, romance, and protection, standing tall in the wildness of life.

What It Means to Us

To some, Sea Holly may look like a thistle or a forgotten dune flower—but to us, it is:

  • An emblem of ancestral resilience

  • A nod to herbal traditions and nature’s armor

  • A symbol of devotion and grit made beautiful

  • A connection to the spirit of the shoreline we call home

We didn’t just want a flower for our logo. We wanted a plant that felt like us. One that holds story in every petal, stem, and thorn. That’s Eryngium. And that’s True Grit.
